My Package Says Delivered
But I Can't Find It
Follow these steps — most missing packages are found within 24 hours using this checklist.
Don't panic yet. Carriers sometimes scan a package as "Delivered" a few hours before it physically arrives — and packages are routinely left in spots you wouldn't expect. Work through the steps below first. If you still can't locate it after 24 hours, contact us and we'll open a carrier investigation immediately.
Search Your Property
Check Every Door
Front door, side door, back door, and garage. Drivers sometimes leave packages at an alternate entry if the main entrance is blocked or out of sight from the street.
Behind Bushes or Pillars
Drivers are trained to hide packages from plain view when possible. Check behind planters, pillars, porch furniture, and along fence lines.
Around Your Vehicle
Check under and behind any vehicles in your driveway. Some drivers place packages low and out of sight — especially for gates or covered parking areas.
Garage & Storage Areas
If your garage door was open at time of delivery, the package may have been placed just inside. Check detached storage sheds or carports too.
Mailbox & Parcel Lockers
Smaller items sometimes fit in a mailbox. If you're in an apartment or condo, check any parcel lockers or package rooms in your building — and your leasing office.
Ask Household Members
Someone in your home may have brought the package inside without mentioning it. Check common areas, closets by the door, or any spot where deliveries are typically placed.
Check Your Neighborhood
Check Neighbors Next Door
Carriers occasionally leave packages at a neighboring address when they can't access yours. Check with the immediate neighbors on both sides — especially if your house numbers are similar (e.g., 123 vs. 213).
Neighbor May Have Accepted It
Some carriers knock and hand to the nearest available person if you weren't home. Ask nearby neighbors — especially those who work from home — if they signed for or accepted a package on your behalf.
Building Office or Front Desk
If you live in an apartment complex, gated community, or HOA, your front office or security desk may have accepted the package and is holding it for you.
Verify Your Shipping Address
Double-check the address on your order confirmation. If there's a unit number, suite, or apartment number that may have been missed, the package could be at a different unit in your building.
Contact Your Carrier
If the package is still missing after completing Steps 1 and 2, contact the carrier directly. Find your carrier on the tracking confirmation email or your order page.

- Ask the counter staff to contact the local driver or station supervisor for a delivery inquiry
- Log in to ups.com and navigate to the Claims section (under "Support")
- Click "Start a Claim" and enter your tracking number
- Select "Lost Package" as the reason

🏠 UPS Ground / Local Delivery
- Call the main number and ask to be connected to the local distribution center for your delivery zip code
- Visit any UPS Store location — staff can escalate your case directly to UPS operations
- If your tracking shows delivery to a UPS Access Point (a partner retail location), visit that location with your ID — your package may be held there waiting for pickup
- First, go to usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm and submit a Missing Mail Search Request — this triggers a physical search at sorting facilities
- Wait 7 business days for USPS to complete the search and respond
- If no result after 7 days, go to usps.com/help/claims.htm to file a formal loss claim
- For Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express: an insurance claim can be filed online or at your local Post Office — bring your tracking number and order confirmation
- If you believe mail theft occurred, file a report at postalinspectors.uspis.gov
🏠 Your Local Post Office
- Visit your local Post Office and ask to speak with the Postmaster
- Request a carrier inquiry — they can contact the specific delivery driver for your route
- Bring your tracking number and a photo ID
- Also check your mailbox and any parcel lockers in your area — USPS "delivered" scans can fire slightly before physical drop-off
