What is difference between DPF&CAT Pipe and Full exhaust?Updated 2 years ago

There is a notable difference between the DPF&CAT Pipe and the Full Exhaust systems.

The DPF&CAT pipe

The DPF/CAT delete pipe isn't a full exhaust system, it only replaces the section of your factory exhaust that contains the emissions parts, specifically the "CAT" and the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). Those are the two barrel shaped parts in your exhaust near the middle of your truck.

The front end of the delete pipe connects to your down-pipe and the tail end of the delete pipe connects to the tail pipe, just before the bend over the rear axle.

The delete pipe is the same diameter of your factory exhaust system, so it will be a perfect fit.

Full Exhaust System

The Full Exhaust is exactly as it sounds, it a pipe that connects to the down pipe all the way to the end of the exhaust. The Full Exhaust can come in the 4" Diameter or 5" Diameter. The reason to get the full exhaust over the DPF&CAT are :

  • Your current exhaust system is not in good shape and you are wanting to replace your current exhaust system,
  • You are looking to upgrade the 5" to add the more deep noise to your truck. Upgrading to the 5" Full exhaust does not impact performance but does make your truck sound nice.
  • Does not improve performance. If you are looking to simply delete, DPF&CAT pipe is your best bet.

Here is a video of how the 4" and 5" Exhaust sound when installed on your truck (please keep in mind, this is video we found online, the audio may not be EXACTLY the same when installed on your truck , but its close enough. )
